Rectus sheath block for perioperative analgesia during umbilical herniorrhaphy in a calf

Originally Published here

The rectus sheath block (RSB) is a fascial plane block of the abdominal wall that has been described in various species, including calves(Ferreira et al. 2022; Alterisio et al. 2023). The RSB is of interest in production species as umbilical defects requiring surgical repair are common (Micieli et al. 2023). Furthermore, local anesthetics are licensed for use in production species in many countries.
